Working Hours in Turkey

In Turkey, the standard working week spans up to 45 hours. Any work exceeding these 45 hours, under the conditions stipulated by law, is considered overtime. Overtime compensation is calculated by increasing the regular hourly wage by fifty percent. The maximum allowable annual overtime hours are capped at 270.

Vacation Entitlement for Turkish Employees

Employees who have completed at least one year of service are entitled to annual paid leave. The minimum number of paid vacation days varies based on the length of employment as follows:

1 – 5 years: 14 days 5 – 15 years: 20 days 15 years and beyond: 26 days

Notice Period and Probation Period

The probationary period in an employment contract cannot extend beyond two months. During this period, either party can terminate the employment contract without prior notice or compensation.

The notice period requirements are as follows:

Up to 6 months: 2 weeks 6 months – 1.5 years: 4 weeks 1.5 years – 3 years: 6 weeks Over 3 years: 8 weeks
